British Values:

The four British Values are:

  • Democracy – A system of government by the whole population or eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.
  • The Rule Of Law – Restriction of the arbitrary exercise of power by subordinating it to well-defined and established laws.
  • Individual Liberty – The liberty of those persons who are free from external restraint in the exercise of those rights which are considered to be outside the province of a government to control
  • mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith
  • Mutual respect for and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs and for those without faith

In 2010 35% of 18-25 year old’s did not vote in the election

In 2015 34% of 18-25 year old did not vote out of 64% of people who did vote.

The next general election is happening on the 8th of June 2017. Before I had this talk about the general election and the manifesto’s they are offering, I feel like 18-25 year olds should vote more as soon enough we will be the adults who have to deal with the changed polices, whilst the people who are voting now it wouldn’t really affect them in the long run.

Progression Talks:

Today we went to the main building to have progression talks about our chosen courses we are thinking about taking. The courses I had chosen were: Fashion, media and marketing and commercial photography.  The talks were really helpful as it gave me an insight into each course, which allowed me to see what it would I would be doing and how I would be doing it if I chose the course.

The progression talks were helpful but has made me think about what course I want to take as I found them both really interesting and something I want to do. What I am going to do next is to look into Uni’s that have these courses so I can compare how good there are from each Uni. I am also going  to compare the two courses I want to take to narrow it down.

My Website; Carbon Made:

I created a website using carbon made to showcase my work for interviews with University or with clients. This is a good way to show my work as it is clear and easy to view. It shows what I am doing now and what I have done for past work, by doing this it helps show improvement and progression within my work. It shows how I have bettered myself and my interests now and in future work I will share on there.

My Linkedin Account:

I created a Linkedin account so that I can expand my network and speak to potential clients when needed. It is a professional platform used for business work and inquires. This will be useful to me if I want to expand my professionalism in the photography industry. I still have a lot of work to do to my account to make it what I want it to be for the future.

Five Year Plan; Draft:

I’m going to go to University, I’ve looked at London,Bath and Glasgow. I either want to study commercial photography or fashion media. Both these areas I am interested in but I’m not sure which one I want to do the most. I have been thinking about deferring Uni for a year but then I want to go to Uni as fast as I can so I can go into my ‘dream’ job, whatever that maybe.

After Uni I want to go travelling to gain new experiences from other countries and cultures to use for my future work. I don’t want to go to the typical place everyone goes to when they go to travel, I want to go places which are unusual. To do all this I will have to save a lot of money back, so I will get a job whilst I’m at Uni to fund for all of this.

Once I have finished travelling I am going to hopefully get a job in photography or in fashion. To make this happen I have to have a really good portfolio to show in interviews and to be confident when presenting my work, which I hope going to Uni will help with.
